It’s too far from my heart to kill,

But close enough to feel.

Her lies cut me bone deep,

But not so deep I won’t heal.

I just drunk me a band aid,

Life had just got real.

It was just as it was suppose to be.

House, family and a white picket fence.

Me working, her raising the kids,

All was well, nothing to give me the sense,

She was unhappy and needed to cheat.

True, it hurt, it made my heart whence.

I did what I had to do, to get on track.

Saw a lawyer, then threw out her stuff.

Took the kids to Mammaw’s, she is fun,

For a while, for the kids it may be rough,

I’ll do everything I can to get to a normal.

I’ll play it by ear and off the cuff.
