Lyrics
Semi SoberHalf way to heaven, one foot in hell,
I’m semi sober, is that brimstone I smell?
If I could kick this addiction, I might see the light,
At the end of the tunnel, and get my life right.
I’m trying to get straight, and make things up to you.
So far, semi sober, is the best I can do.
I can’t really remember when I let drink take me over.
My life has never been rainbows and fields of clover.
I’ve lived through many trials and tribulations,
Just when things are looking up, BAM, I have to start over.
It seems that if I’m not buzzed, I can’t really motivate.
Coffee in my morning whiskey, helps me bare the day.
A drink or two with lunch and a half a bottle at supper,
Helps me sleep at night, I don’t know any other way.
If I could kick this addiction, I might see the light,
At the end of the tunnel, and get my life right.
I’m trying to get straight, and make things up to you.
So far, semi sober, is the best I can do.
I never really get drunk, but I sure am never straight.
Staying in a twilight haze seems to be my ordained fate.
I try my best to quit for you, then inevitably backslide.
I attempt to cloak my frailty, it’s something I can’t hide.
( Instrumental Break )
Every day is a fight, wishing for heaven, drawn toward hell.
The misery my soul is going through is more than I can tell.
I pray for the day there is a cure and my curse is over.
Until that day I have to accept just being semi sober.
If I could kick this addiction, I might see the light,
At the end of the tunnel, and get my life right.
I’m trying to get straight, and make things up to you.
So far, semi sober, is the best I can do.
It seems like forever since I was completely sober.
How I get back to sober, I haven’t got a clue.
For now, semi sober, will have to do.
