Memories by the Shore
Atlantic lovely dark and deep
Placed on sand to scan the scene
The translators Army band played
And the children drank cool aide
Well I remember every little part
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the water
not another car around
through the open window came
Like x in a younger day
Pushing the clouds away, ah
A poem written in the sand
At the water line as it lapped
The morning seemed to last all day
Under the bright sun sand burned
Bright from left to right
I wonder what fish there may be
that can see me
From that turbulent water
Under the thousand natural shocks
that flesh is heir to
I fell to clutch of recyclables
I did winced and cried aloud
Unbloodied, but bowed
Beyond this place of tears and wrath
Looms the Hades of the shade,
the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid
Most of the time
Placed on sand to scan the scene
The translators Army band played
And the children drank cool aide
Well I remember every little part
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the water
not another car around
through the open window came
Like x in a younger day
Pushing the clouds away, ah
A poem written in the sand
At the water line as it lapped
The morning seemed to last all day
Under the bright sun sand burned
Bright from left to right
I wonder what fish there may be
that can see me
From that turbulent water
Under the thousand natural shocks
that flesh is heir to
I fell to clutch of recyclables
I did winced and cried aloud
Unbloodied, but bowed
Beyond this place of tears and wrath
Looms the Hades of the shade,
the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid
Most of the time
