I Fell From a High Place
🎶 I Fell From a High Place
Written by Pastor Jedidiah Gaines
A prophetic country gospel ballad of pride, downfall, and redemption
---
🎙️ [Spoken Intro]
My momma used to sing that nursery rhyme:
“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall… Humpty Dumpty had a great fall…”
I never thought much of it—until I took my own fall…
From a place so high, it shattered everything.
And no one… no one could put me back together again.
---
🪕 Verse 1 – The Rise
I was a self-made man with a golden name
Built a tower with praise and fortune and fame
Walked with God once, but then I strayed
Thought I was the one who made the way
Signed the checks, bought the land
Gave speeches no one could withstand
Didn’t need no shepherd staff
When I had stocks, and suits, and cash
---
🎸 Verse 2 – The Fall
Then one day in a boardroom war
They tossed me out and slammed the door
The nameplate gone, the title stripped
My empire crumbled brick by brick
I stood alone on pride’s remains
With Humpty’s rhyme runnin’ through my brain
“All the king’s horses, all the king’s men…”
And not one soul could make me whole again
---
🌧️ Chorus – I Fell From a High Place
I fell from a high place, thought I’d built it strong
But pride don’t last when God ain’t in the song
Like Humpty Dumpty on that wall
One slip, and pride will make you fall
No ladder reached, no hand was raised
Just silence in those shattered days
Till a voice broke through my darkest night:
“Behold the Lamb… step into the light.”
---
🕯️ Verse 3 – The Voice
All the king’s lawyers and the boardroom men
Tried their best but couldn’t mend
The cracks went deeper than they knew
Till Jesus came and walked me through
On broken dreams and memory’s floor
He found each piece and something more
Not just fixed, but redefined
This time with purpose… this time divine
---
🕊️ Bridge – Redemption
The wall I built was made of pride
But His grace reached from the other side
He didn’t scold or point or shout
He just knelt down and pulled me out
And whispered soft, “You're not alone—
Let Me rebuild, let Me atone”
---
🌅 Final Chorus – The Lamb Who Is Worthy
I fell from a high place, but I fell into grace
From shattered pride to a sacred place
The nursery rhyme was not the end
It led me back to a truer Friend
No one else could make me whole
But Jesus mended soul to soul
And I heard a voice that changed my days:
“Behold the Lamb… who still makes a way.”
---
🎙️ [Spoken Outro]

come back home
